Aratinga is a genus of parrots known as conures (sometimes, parakeets. The best known Aratinga conures are the sun conure, jenday (or jendaya) conure, blue-crowned conure (the species the title character of Paulie is a member of), and peachfront conure. They are typically lively, colorful, personable, but loud, birds. They, along with their smaller Pyrrhura cousins, are commonly kept as pets.
