Arlington is also a town in Massachuetts of population circa 42000, located immediately northwest of Cambridge. Formerly known as Menotomy, its name was changed to Arlington in 1867 in honor of war heroes buried in Arlington, VA.

Arlington played a prominent role in the first day of the American Revolution, when Minutemen from surrounding towns converged on the town (then Menotomy) to ambush the British on their retreat from Lexington and Concord.

Arlington, MA is also known as the home of sculptor Cyrus Dallin and is home to a museum honoring his work.
