A ribbon of fabric that is cut diagonal to the grain of the fabric (45 degrees off from both the warp and the weft); this angle is called the bias of the fabric. This allows the tape to stretch more than if it were cut along either grain. Bias tape is often used in making piping, binding and reinforcing seams, and finishing raw edges of garments. It is not sticky.
