The
Boeing MD-80, previously the
McDonnell Douglas MD-80 and also called the
Boeing Super 80, is a
pretty nice plane. It's
strange that I've never flown in one before this week, since they've been
in service since
1980.
What did I like about it so much? Well, it's a good sized plane, making it well suited for a transcontinental flight, but also, if you look at the design, it's got the engines way all in the back, which means if you're in the front half of the thing, it's pretty damn quiet.
I actually got to hear the treble from the headset of my MP3 CD player because my head wasn't awash in engine noise. It's a Good Thing.
