The son of Frank Herbert, he tends to write quirky science fiction and comedies--although the only really good thing I've seen out of him is The Race For God (and Man of Two Worlds, but that felt predominantly Frank Herbert, as he worked with his father on it). His current project is working with Kevin J. Anderson on the ghastly Dune Prequels.

Like Sean Lennon, Brian Herbert is doomed to forever be in the shadow of his father, Frank Herbert. People expect his work to be the same ultra-intellectual work, and at the same time will always consider him a wannabe for trying to live up to the same expectations. I personally feel that he should try to just be his own person, as should all children of respected artists.
