An 80s indie
fanzine, and also the ultimate
collector scum label. Run by
Bob Stanley of
St. Etienne fame, this label released extremely limited-run
vinyl-only singles of
rare/demo/offcut tracks by artists that were either on the cusp of being rather large (
Manic Street Preachers,
The Field Mice,
Pulp), or already rather large (
Galaxie 500,
Buffalo Tom). 17 singles in total were released over 4 years.
The complete obscurity of virtually all of the Caff singles is in no small part helped by the allegation that Bob Stanley held on to a fair whack of each pressing to keep under his bed.
I am not proud to admit i have spent a lot of money completing my Caff collection.
