The title California Über Alles is a reference to Deutschland Über Alles, the national anthem of Germany (the anthem predates the Nazi regime but it was used at, for example, the Nuremberg rally). Second, everyone in the political landscape should consider the fact that, in the late 70s, it didn't seem insane to compare the government of Jerry Brown to the Third Reich. As the Heroes pointed out, Jerry Brown doesn't hold a candle to Pete Wilson (or, arguably, to Gray Davis) when it comes to fascist behavior.
