Capoeira Regional is a manifestation of Bahian culture that was created in 1928 by Manoel dos Reis Machado (Mestre Bimba). He utilized his knowledge of Capoeira Angola and Batuque. Capoeira Angola is a manifestation that was born out of the necessity of liberation from a nation of slavery, oppression, suffering and rebellion. We can consider it the mother of Capoeira Regional. Batuque is a violent dance-fight, where the objective was to knock the adversary to the ground using only the legs. Mestre Bimba said: " In 1928 I created, complete, Regional. Which is Batuque mixed with Angola, with more strikes, a true fight, good for the physical and the mental."
