Poem by Dante Alighieri, of over 14,000 lines. It details his journey through hell (Inferno), purgatory (purgatorio), and heaven (Paradiso). The Divine Comedy is written in the Tuscan dialect, which was (in large part because of this work) the precursor to modern Italian. Finished just before Dante's death in 1321, this poem is written in terza rima.
