Ernest Dale "E.T." Tubb was born in Crisp, Texas in 1914. Ernest's first job in the music industry was for the KONO radio station in San Antonio, Texas, His first single was "I'll get along somehow," but he didn't get his big break until 1942 when he wrote and recorded the million-seller "Walking the Floor Over You," it was this song that earned him a regular spot on the Grand Ole Opry.

Some of Ernest most memorable hits include; "Goodnight Irene," "I Love You Because," 'Soldier's Last Letter,'and "Thanks A Lot."

His first movie role was in the "Fighting Buckaroo ", and he starred as himself in Loretta Lynn's autobiography "Coal Miner's Daughter."

In 1947 he founded the famous Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Nashvilee, Tennessee (home of the Midnite Jamboree). The Midnite Jamboree was broadcast every week following the Grand Ole Opry and gave many new stars their first exposure.
