Eurybiades was a
Spartan general. He was appointed as the figurehead Spartan commander of the
Hellenic fleet against
Persia during the Persian wars in 480B.C.. He was the commander at
Artemisium and
Salamis, although
Thermistocles was the real commanding figure in both of these encounters.
Although he was only a figurehead there is evidence that a statue to him was errected in Sparta.
