Moscow in 1971, Evgeny began playing the piano at age 2. He first came to international attention at the age of 12, when he performed the two
Chopin concertos with the Moscow State
Philharmonic.
In 1990 he opened Carnegie Hall's centennial season with an acclaimed debut recital there. He has been showered with awards, becoming the youngest-ever awardee of both Musical America's Instrumentalist of the Year, and the Triumph Award for outstanding contribution to Russian culture.
He was the first pianist ever invited to give a recital at the BBC Proms in 1997, and has played there every year since. Kissin is considered one of the foremost young interpreters of piano music today.
