Notes from the doctor

Newborns should be fed (at least) 8 times a day until 2 months old (regardless of whether they are breastfed or formula-fed). If they are still sleeping, wake them before 3 hours are up during the day and after 3 hours are up at night (to help them develop a sense of night and day). When you wake them during the day, don't feed them immediately, or they will go back to sleep. Instead, wait 10 to 15 minutes before feeding them.

There should be 6 feedings a day at 4 months. At 9 months, this should be down to 3 or 4 times day, and only during the daytime.

Mother's Milk tea might be good to take with Fenugreek to increase breast milk production. If the baby is drinking mostly breast milk, start adding vitamin D droplets (it supposedly tastes better than Polyvisol).

After a few days of weight loss, newborns should gain 1 oz per day. They usually reach their birth weight again by 2 weeks.
