brightly colored modern landscapes blending
realistic,
simplified depictions of buildings and nature with
psychedelic planes of curved color. He often paints directly onto the gallery wall surrounding the paintings to create a sense of
environment and depth.
Ackermann refers to his works as "
mental maps" designed to express not only the appearance of places but his
subjective experience.
