To be honest I should be embarrassed

writing this down where you might read it but

                                                                then I remember you aren't curious

                                                                and don't read things I write

                                                                so I can say

I love everything you touch;

embrace  all parts of you

every sweater you leave in my car

I hold to my face to inhale

the half life of your perfume

every lost strand of hair

loitering on the night stand

I rub between my fingertips

as a collector turns a talisman over in his palm

cherishing the texture

when you walk away from your coffee mug

I don't disturb your lipstick print on the rim but

I have been known to lick your lukewarm spoon

waitresses sometimes stare
