There are many people who have attempted to figure out what it is likely
Jesus said, and what it is likely was added by
gospel-writers et al. They range from the
deist Thomas Jefferson's private work, to the somewhat pompously named
The Gospel of Jesus, which represents Jesus as akin to the
Buddha, differing primarily (and unsurprisingly) in that he based his
revelations on the
Jewish background rather than a
Hindu one... to
The Jesus Project, which involves actual Christian
clerics of various stripes.
Clearly this is not an issue for those who believe in biblical inerrancy (unless someone has an account of Jesus which does not fall under this aegis, and thus can come under attack). However, it is an issue for every other Christian, or any person who is interested in what this enlightened man had to say.
