The national park wherin which one can find the tree which is named after the park, the Joshua tree. (ok this bit's crap sorry)

It is home to some of the best bouldering in the world and in the mid ninties became a bouldering mecca for climbers from all over the world. The stone is mostly a red sandstone and the climbing is supposed to be truly inspiring, not only for bouldering but also for trad climbing.

As the place is a national park and has some important native american indian sites some people began to worry about the effect that climbing might have on the enviornment. Strong restictions have come into force now, and people wishing to climb must be accompanied by a guide. They may stay in the park for a short time only.
