My poor muse, alas! thus what ails you this morning?
Tes yeux creux sont peuplés de visions nocturnes,
Your hollow eyes are populated with nocturnal visions,
Et je vois tour à tour réfléchies sur ton teint
And I see at time to time reflected on your brow
La folie et l'horreur, froides et taciturnes.
Madness and horror, cold and taciturn.
Le succube verdâtre et le rose lutin
The green succubus and the pink goblin
T'ont-ils versé la peur et l'amour de leurs urnes ?
Have they poured fear and love onto you from their urns?
Le cauchemar, d'un poing despotique et mutin,
The nightmare, from a despotic and mutinous fist,
T'a-t-il noyée au fond d'un fabuleux Minturnes ?
Did it drown you at the bottom of a fabulous Minturne?
Je voudrais qu'exhalant l'odeur de la santé
I would like that exhaling the scent of your health
