The technical name for Motorola's latest iteration of the G4 processor used in Macintosh computers. This version, which supercedes the MPC7400, adds an L3 cache as well as changing the data pipeline setup to boost clock speed. The chip currently maxes out at 733Mhz, a paltry number when compared with Intel's 1.5Ghz chips. However, the MPC7450 at 733 in fact outperforms the Pentium 4 due to it's AltiVec engine, or 128 bit per cycle processing rate, compared to the Pentiums 64. Also, Intel routes the data pipelines differently to boost clock speed but decrease processor efficiency.
