Metamer is also a term used in color theory from Greek meta meaning with and meros meaning part. Metamers are two colors that look alike even though their intensity-distribution curves differ. An example of this is when you mix monochromatic yellow light with monochromatic blue light, the result will look like ordinary white light, even though white light contains the all the wavelengths in it, and this mixture does not.

Any one of several metameric forms of the same substance, or of different substances having the same composition; as, xylene has three metamers, viz., orthoxylene, metaxylene, and paraxylene.
