My Chemical Romance (MCR) is an emo/screamo band born out of Newark, New Jersey in 2000 with a sound and story similar to that of Thursday. The group began with two high school friends, Gerard Way on lead vocals and Matt Pelissier on the drums, and their song "Skylines and Turnstiles." The group expanded to five with the addition of guitarists Ray Toto and Frank Iero and bassist Mikey Way, brother of Gerard.
In 2002, MCR released it's debut album, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" under Eyeball Records. In 2003, the band resigned with Reprise/Warner Bros. and, in 2004, released "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge." The band is known for their ever more interesting song names, and they owe at least part of their success to their unique and macabre stage presence and videos.
As for their musical influences, the group has cited several bands including: Led Zeppelin, Queen, Iron Maiden, the Misfits, the Smiths, and Cure.
