Book four in John Norman's Gor series. It involves Tarl Cabot, the hero, venturing to Gor's southern plains to find the nomad tribes who reside there, and convincing them that he's on a mission for the Priest-Kings to retrieve from the nomads an object liven into their care by the P-Ks.
