I drove to the lake at lunch. It was bright and the grass was still green - even if it was faded November.

There were all kinds of people who parked by the lake at lunch time today: A man who looked like a traveling American in a rental car; a guy in a crispy grey suit on his cell-phone; a couple who were going to roll around behind some tall grass together; a tradesman who was taking a thoughtful break between calls.

I wondered how many parks there were around the world like this one. I got out of my black car and walked to the lake with my book and journal. I wrote:

What is closer to the truth - what people would say if she vanished vs. what people would say if she was found guilty of murder.

A man walked by with his dog and smiled at me.
