First spotted
besmirching properties in the 1920s, the art of the pebbledash is where a conbination of
Portland cement and small
washed stones are
rendered all over the
external walls of a
house. Apparently an attempt to
mimic the textured roughcast look pioneered by
William Morris'
Arts and Crafts Movement.
Pebbledashing nigh on impossible to remove, so is still seen everywhere (including the house I
rent at the moment).
Pebbledash people is one of the terms used to describe a person who fits into a certain social stereotype in the UK
