Linking Penang island to mainland Malaysia, this bridge measures at 13.5 kilometres in length, linking Seberang Prai on the mainland to Gelugor on Penang island. This bridge is reputed to be the longest in Asia and third longest in the world (probably true back in 1985). Built at a cost of RM800 million, the construction took about three and a half years to complete and was officially opened to traffic on September 1st, 1985.
