The second king of the third, or Saqqara, Egyptian dynasty (2686 bce - 2613 bce). His rule signified the beginning of the Old Kingdom.
Zoser (also, Djoser) was entombed in the what is believed to be the first pyramid ever built in
Egypt, the Pyramid of Saqqara. Designed by Imhotep, this architectural style, known as the Step Pyramid,
became the standard of the Egyptian pyramids.
The step pyramid of Djoser is still the oldest stone building in Egypt.
