A short story by H. P. Lovecraft, about a brilliant painter, Richard Upton Pickman. It's written as a narrative of one of Pickman's friends, Thurber, who tells why his friendship with Pickman terminated. The story circles around Pickman's paintings, which more and more portraits hellish and horrifying scenes.

Scholars regard Pickman's Model to be typical of Lovecraft's early work, and it predates the so-called "Cthulhu Mythos" by at least a year.

The story has also appeared as an episode of the TV-series Night Gallery.
