Polk County is a county in Oregon, lying in the middle of the Willamette Valley, on the west bank of the Willamette River. Polk County contains a small section of Salem, which is mostly located in Marion County. The county seat and largest city in Polk County is Dallas.

Of the counties in the Willamette Valley, Polk County, with its 80,000 people, is the least populous, and the third smallest in area. While its 80,000 people and rural atmosphere make it appear bucolic next to the Portland area, it is still 100 times more densely populated than several counties in Eastern Oregon. Most of the population lives along the corridor of US Highway 99W, along the Willamette River, but the county also includes large areas of the Oregon Coast Range, including Laurel Mountain, the rainiest point in Oregon.
