All I ever wanted was to be demure.
When they asked "Speak now, or forever hold your peace,"
I wondered why anyone would ever want to speak.
Better to close your mouth
and appear a fool than to open it and remove all doubt
was the motto, the zeitgeist in my head
A mystery to those without
and myself within,
reaching zen proportions of silence
ruling a castle that only I can enter
So far detached from the material world
and seeming both haughty and humble,
relegating everyday matters to the peasants
