DJ, Sara Cox, was born on Friday the 13th December, 1974, and raised in
Bolton,
Lancashire. She claims to have initally wanted to be a
vet, then a
policewoman, but she ended up leaving school at 18 after gaining 4
A-Levels and going to work as a a model, and was soon scouted out, and persuaded to try her hand at
television
She has appeared in several popular TV shows , including The Girlie Show, MTV Hot, and Channel 4's The Big Breakfast before her transition to radio in September 1999 to co-present the Saturday lunchtime show alongside Emma B, as well as launching The Sunday Surgery, where she tackled listeners' personal problems alongside Dr Mark Hamilton.
