Stances
Prev: Kiba Dachi
Next: Heisoku Dachi

This ring is under construction so please don't nail me for broken links. It's likely to take about a month to finish, I'm about 1/16 of the way through. Thanks for your patience.

Shiko Dachi is a Karate stance similar to Kiba dachi except that the feet are turned outward slightly. Similarly to Kiba dachi this is a good strong stance from which to practice punches but whereas Kiba dachi lends itself well to being changed into Zenkutsu dachi (forward weighted stances), Shiko dachi is more aptly suited to Kokutsu dachi (back stances).

It is easy to mix the two up and many people always do Shiko dachi regardless of the requirement, due to Kiba dachi being a bit harder on the ankles.
