Title: Song About a Pencil on a Bus for Jen
Artist: Foibles
Album: Solid Rock Baptist Church Rummage Sale
Written by: Phil Dumesnil

Track nineteen on "Solid Rock Baptist Church Rummage Sale" by Foibles, a San-Francisco lo-fi band. This song is fast-paced on an acoustic guitar through an electric amp, with a funky bass riff from the intro to the end of the song. It's the most bouncy song on the album, and is my favourite.

Song About a Pencil on a Bus for Jen

I found a pencil on a bus
And it grew into a car
And I rode it through a tree
I threw the wreckage in a jar

Oh I found a pencil on a bus
Within the pocket of my shirt
Subtle poison from the lead
Somebody's rolling in the dirt
And someone's go-go dancing on my head

Bus
A pencil

I found a pencil on a bus
And I put it in my teeth
Describe the word "enunciate"
And then I swallowed it so sweet

Choking on a pencil on a bus
And the morning was a blur
Then the doctor tapped my knee
And he told me I was cured
But not to eat the pencil on the bus

(Clapping)

I was nearly ten years old
And you were not the television
Snowing from the channel where the
Doctor was no actor from a cable-ready
Suicidal, flute recital - Bach rendition
Would you like my autograph?

Today I found a pencil on a bus.
And it grew into a car
And I rode it through a tree
I threw the wreckage in a jar

Oh I found a pencil on a bus
Within the pocket of my shirt
Subtle poison from the lead
Somebody's rolling in the dirt
And someone's go-go dancing on my head

Bus

Note: I originally guessed the middle section as:

I was nearly ten years old
And you were not the type of vision
Snowing from a channel where
The doctor wears no external trauma
Cable-ready suicidal fluicidal pop condition
Would you like my autograph?

This didn't seem to make much sense, so I emailed Phil to find out the real lyrics, and he informed me that:

wow! you were damn close ... actually i like your version much better - there really weren't supposed to be words at that part of the song but for some reason i started babbling ... so the words don't really fit with the rest of the theme of pencils or busses (but in some ways they do)
