A
book (remember those?) by
Bill Drummond and
Jimmy Cauty of the infamous
KLF. It is a step-by-step
guide to acheiving a
number one hit on
British pop charts. Written in 1988 and currently published by Ellipsis press (ISBN 1-899858-65-2), it is basically an expose on
pop music. The authors promise a complete refund of the purchase price of the book if you fail to acheive a number one hit even after following the step-by-step instructions
to the letter.
To my knowledge, no one has acheived a number one through use of The Manual, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
For further information on the exploits of the KLF, track down a fine book entitled Watch the K Foundation Burn A Million Quid, which brings up the argument concerning the relevancy of money today.
