Tröegs is a brand of
microbrew beers and
ales brewed in
Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania. The owner is John Trogner, and when he graduated from
high school, he decided his life's ambition was going to be
beer, but not just any old beer.
Honest to goodness,
hearty,
rich, European style beer. He travelled through
Ireland, the
United Kingdom,
Belgium, and
Germany, all places known for their skill with the
fermented hop, to learn the fine art of brewing.
Once John returned home to
Harrisburg, he set out to make some of the finest
beer in world.
Tröegs offers four beers year-round:
Seasonally,
Tröegs offers special brews, usually higher in alcohol, and only available for a limited time.
Tröegs the
beer is available for sale throughout Central
Pennsylvania,
Virginia,
Delaware,
New Jersey, and Northern
Maryland.
Tröegs is often sold by the
cask, as opposed to the
keg, because the company claims casks give the beer a better taste and texture. I am inclined to agree. It is more common to see beer in the cask in
Europe than in the
United States.
Tröegs (the
brewery) offers tours and tastings every Saturday at 2pm.
