They say we were made
Two by two.
I knew then
I was there for you.
And yet you never looked my way.
And if you did, Oh such dismay
To see me close behind.
Your scorn I bore,
Your shame I wore;
Their weight I did not mind.
You see, I believed
With my poetry sweet,
I could sway your soul-
Make you make me whole.
When you trod on my heart your heels were rough;
And now it seems an idle dream enough.
for her,
may we both forget soon.
