A Finno-Ugrian language. Ume Sámi is currently spoken by less than 20 people and many of them can't speak it well. It is spoken in Sweden in the areas of Pite Lappmark and Lycksele Lappmark. It used to be spoken in parts of Norway but it is now extinct there. The two leading scholars of Ume Sámi are C. A. Calleberg and Olavi Korhonen.
