Song that's sung at
University of Florida football games by
fans/
students/
alumni/etc., between the third and fourth
quarter of the game.
The song seems to share importance with the University of Florida Alma Mater, and like the alma mater, a surprising percentage of people in the stadium actually know the words.
I've been told that a few years ago there was a PC movement to change the lyrics to "boys and girls from old Florida", but nothing ever came to fruition. This is the South afterall, and old traditions die hard.
The lyrics:
We are the boys from old Florida,
F-L-O-R-I-D-A.
Where the girls are the fairest
The boys are the squarest
Of any ol' state down our way, hey!
We are all strong for old Florida,
Down where the old Gators play.
In all kinds of weather
We'll all stick together
For F-L-O-R-I-D-A
