Zhang Guo-tao


An early leader of the CPC. After a power struggle with Mao, he led his forces (about 1/3 of the Red Army) off on another path at Maoerkhai during the Long March. His forces were soon destroyed by Nationalist troops and Moslems. He defected to Chiang Kai-shek in 1938.
