cigar bands.
Collecting cigar bands is apparently quite a legitimate & widespread hobby - but to me, the term sounds dumb and phony. Why should "brand-" designate cigars? I can't seem to dig up any background on this word, but neither have I found anyone claiming it doesn't mean this. The following sites claim it does (there were several more sites, but what a boring list).
