In
bridge, each
player bids or
passes until everybody else passes after one player's bid.
Once somebody has made a bid, each following bid must be higher than the previous one, or a double or
redouble bid. Clubs is the lowest
suit, then diamonds, hearts, spades, and finally
no trump. After one of each of these suits comes two of a suit and so on up to 7.
Bridge bidding follows certain conventions which allows players partial knowledge of their partners' hands.
