Buggalo are a large species of
insect cattle from the
Futurama universe. They were first seen in episode #2, "
The Series Has Landed" and were seen again in Season 4's "
Where The Buggalo Roam" and "
The Devils Hands Are Idle Playthings" (in cooked form).
Buggalo resemble giant ladybugs with black and white spots and are easily larger than a van. They make clicking noises and graze in herds. They can be quite affectionate. Amy Wong has her own pet buggalo (named Betsy). The Wong family owns the largest herd of buggalo anywhere. Although the herd was rustled during one of the Wong's yearly Mars Day BBQs, Kif Kroaker, Bender, Fry, Leela, Amy, and Zapp Brannigan managed to recover them from the native Martians. It was during this adventure that mankind learned that buggalo can fly.
Buggalo have many uses in the future world. They can be ridden, eaten (the thorax is quite popular at BBQs), used for farm work, or kept as pets.
Potential thieves take note: buggalo rustling is frowned upon, and engaging in such activities will usually result in an angry mob chasing you.
Respect the buggalo.
