false syllogism

A false syllogism draws the wrong conclusion from two premises in the form of (a->x & b -> x) ==> a-> b
(someone please correct my notation, it's been a while since I've done logic)

• All men are mortal
• Socrates is mortal


Therefore

• All men are Socrates

• All pine trees are green
• This is green


Hence (even Everythingians say "hence")

• This is a pine tree

Sounds silly in these contexts but is actually used in political and moral arguments quite frequently
