A term used throghout the 20th century to refer to that section of the newspaper where comics can be found. Funny papers are in color on weekends, and black and white on weekdays. This is also another term for Pre-Golden Age comic books that are literally comical, as opposed to those involving superheroes like the ones that were published during the Golden Age. Some comic books still classify as funny papers, including Richie Rich, The Archies and pretty much anything used today regarding marketable Saturday morning cartoon characters.
