Japanese word indicating an
approximate duration. It can usually be omitted from a
translation into
English, or possibly translated as "
about". This word is actually spelled "kurai", but is
pronounced "gurai" in almost every case. When expressing a
duration, you usually need to add
gurai to avoid sounding too
precise, and therefore
rude.

Let's watch TV for an hour, ok?
Written (gurai), no kanji.
