A non-alcoholic beverage popular in Mexico (and presumably elsewhere in the Latino world). In many ways, the licuado resembles a milkshake/smoothie-type drink or even perhaps an Italian Soda. Unlike the former, however, a licuado is made with milk rather than ice cream; and unlike the latter, the licuado uses real fruit and is a blenderised drink.

But whatever the case, making a licuado is actually rather simple, and can be accomplished merely by putting a blender to the following ingredients:

  • Ice cubes
  • Milk (although orange juice or water can be used instead)
  • Any combination of fresh fruits (strawberry, banana, and mango all make for really good licuados, imho)
  • Vanilla (optional)
  • In any event, a good licuado is really a damn good thing.
