Mesofauna is a characterization of organisms by size in a particular environment. Usually no larger than a millimeter or two, they are not easily seen by the naked eye, but are not microscopic.

Soil mesofauna are organisms such as mites, collembola and other arthropods. Marine mesofauna include the larvae of many larger organisms such as the echinodermata and mollusca.
