A food that is as much trouble to eat as it is to burn. The theory is that you expend so much energy chewing and digesting these foods that you end up with a caloric deficit after eating them. The number of calories you burn chewing and digesting a food is dependent on your metabolism, so they may not be negative calories foods for everyone, but for for people trying to lose weight they make great snacks:
