Pepe Deluxe is a musical trio which feeds on juicy samples, fat beats, classic grooves and a truck load of nostalgia. Their sound is a stirring pot of influences not unlike that of
Ninja Tune. The result? A stylish mess of something new, something old and definitively something blue!
The band is the sum of three very different personalities: James Spectrum (technical mastermind), JA-Jazz (vinyl junkie) and DJ Slow (the scrather par excellence). All three are originally from Finland.
Pepe has released a full album, Super Sounds, (for Catskills Records) which is a good representation of the trio´s sounds and skills. An enjoyable mix, even if it seems to go slightly overboard with variety now and then.
