Sanskrit word for wisdom. In Buddhism, prajna describes supreme wisdom.

Unlike sophia, prajna is not an intellectual wisdom, but rather profound understanding of the nature of reality.

Prajna is one of the paramitas, and as such leads toward complete and supreme liberation.

Maha prajna paramita hridaya sutra, or Great Heart Sutra of Supreme Wisdom, is an important sutra of Mahayana Buddhism.

In Pali, the language preferred by Theravada Buddhism, it is called panna.
