A part of both meiosis and mitosis. During telophase of mitosis and of the the second meiotic division, sister chromatids that have separated during anaphase arrive at opposite poles of the dividing cell. During telophase of the first meiotic division, one member of each pair of homologous chromosomes arrives at each pole of the dividing cell; each such homologue is a pair of sister chromatids that will go on to separate in the second meiotic division.

Preious step: Anaphase
Next step: Cytokinesis
